The tech rehearsal is a nerve-wracking time for everyone. For designers, operators and other production crew it is the one (very long) day that they have to get things right. For the cast there are long periods of waiting followed by intense bursts of repetition of a few out-of-context lines, which has a disconcerting effect on even the most confident and well-prepared of actors. For the director it’s the first chance to see whether all the departments can work together.

For me, though, yesterday’s tech was exhausting but exhilarating.

Nearly opening night at last.

My work was minimal compared to everyone else’s: some coordination, some cheerleading, but mainly it was a chance to sit back and enjoy the labours of our lighting and sound departments, and to admire some of the last minute props and special effects.

From text to execution, I couldn’t be happier with ‘Life and Beth.’

One dress rehearsal to go and then you, too, can see what an amazing job they have done. We’ve nearly sold out for Saturday already!

Tickets (such as are still available) can be bought here.
